What is custom firmware?
Firmware is the console’s internal system. Custom firmware (CFW) is an enhanced version that unlocks additional features that aren’t available by default.
What it enables
- Homebrew: independent applications and games created by the community.
- Emulators: play retro consoles again (NES, SNES, Game Boy, Mega Drive…).
- Customization: themes, wallpapers, advanced settings.
- Convenience: save states, screenshots, library organization.
Is it risky?
When installed correctly—as we do by hand in our workshop—CFW is stable and safe. Every console is tested before shipping.
