At Yochamida, one question comes up often: should you choose a PS Vita OLED or a PS Vita Slim? Both are excellent handheld consoles, but they have important differences. Here is our complete comparison.
PS Vita OLED (“Fat” model, PCH-1000)
This is the first model, released in Europe in 2012. Its main advantage: a beautiful 5-inch OLED screen, with deep blacks, vivid colors, and superior contrast. Ideal for colorful games and videos.
PS Vita Slim (PCH-2000 model)
Released in 2013, the Slim is thinner and lighter and offers about 1 hour of additional battery life. It switches to an LCD screen (less contrasty than OLED, but brighter in daylight), includes 1 GB of storage, and uses a standard micro-USB charging port, which is much more convenient.
Screen: OLED or LCD?
- OLED: more vibrant colors and perfect blacks — the most beautiful option for playing in the dark.
- LCD (Slim): brighter outdoors, with a more neutral image.
Battery life, weight, and comfort
The Slim is more comfortable to carry and lasts a little longer on a charge. The OLED remains the favorite of purists for its image quality.
So, which one should you choose?
You prioritize image quality → PS Vita OLED. You want lightness and battery life → PS Vita Slim. In both cases, our consoles are refurbished, tested, and custom-customized by hand.
